What do you play for when you already know you can’t win?

Hey babes ~

As the regular season comes to an end, most of the baseball world is focused on the teams headed to October. But this episode is for everyone else: the teams that were eliminated weeks ago and still showed up to the ballpark every single day.

In this episode, we’re talking about:

• What it means to keep playing after postseason hopes are gone
• Why an eliminated team can still have plenty to play for
• The strange vulnerability of failing publicly and having to keep performing
• Why fans keep watching even when their team can’t make the playoffs
• The players, families, traditions, and communities that give “meaningless” games meaning
• Why being eliminated from one version of the future doesn’t mean your season is over
• Learning to ask “What is still worth showing up for?” instead of pretending disappointment doesn’t hurt
• And, because I couldn’t resist, a little postseason standings check before the weekend

Sometimes the dream doesn’t end. It just stops looking the way you thought it would.

At the end of the day, we show up anyway.

For the love of the game ~
