Description

We say we're hopeful, but our words are full of doubt. "I hope so." "A girl can wish." In this episode, we unpack what the Bible actually means by hope, why it was never meant to be a feeling, and what to do when hope has been deferred so long it's starting to feel like hopelessness.

In this episode:

• Why the world's definition of hope has doubt built into it
• What Mark 9:24 reveals about believing and doubting in the same breath
• Why biblical hope is confident expectation, not a feeling
• What Proverbs 13:12 means when it says hope deferred makes the heart sick
• Where to go when hope has been deferred so long you're losing it (Lamentations 3:21-24)
• Why this hope is different from anything the world is selling (Romans 5:3-5, Job 6:20)

Scripture referenced: Mark 9:24, Psalm 16:9, Psalm 22:9, Hebrews 11:1, Proverbs 13:12, Lamentations 3:21-24, Romans 5:3-5, Job 6:20
