Standing 21 metres high since 1935, the Mount Macedon Memorial Cross is Victoria's most important war memorial after the Shrine of Remembrance—a place of profound reflection, especially at the ANZAC Day dawn service.
But when volunteers began restoration work, they discovered the footings don't match the original drawings. Work stopped immediately.
