Description

In today’s episode, we take you behind the scenes to the translational research facilities around Australia helping researchers take discoveries from the lab to the clinic. TIA is a national consortium of research infrastructure that enables public and private research teams to access affordable technologies and equipment to develop new therapeutics to improve human health. We chat to TIA CEO Dr Stuart Newman about the facilities supporting COVID-19 related research, including its National Biologics Facility in Queensland where UQ researchers are racing against time to develop a COVID-19 vaccine. Dr Marian Sturm, Facility Director of the Cell & Tissue Therapies WA, which is a TIA Consortium member based at Royal Perth Hospital, reveals how their research facility prepared for the pandemic and the importance of up-skilling capability for their advanced manufacturing efforts.
