UPDATE: Senator Keough’s recently retired from her job with the Associated Logging Contractors and is enjoying a well-earned break with her family. She still keeps her hands (heart and mind) occupied by serving on the Idaho State Board of Education though. Can’t see her sitting at home knitting…

August 1, 2024 Former Senator Shawn Keough talks to Teri about her path to public service and her time in the Idaho legislature, including her 3-year role as Co-Chair of the Joint Financial Appropriations Committee (JFAC), working with Representative Maxine Bell. She talks about her love for North Idaho and her constituents, and the issues she focused on while in the Legislature.

She also talks candidly about the changing political dynamics in District 1 and the Legislature, sharing her concerns about recent changes in Idaho’s Republican party platform, the lack of civility, and the importance of disagreeing agreeably in politics.

She explains her passion for public education, her current role on the State Board of Education, and addresses important issues like property taxes and school bonds. Most importantly, she has some advice for anyone who is considering Doing It! (whatever that may be).
