In a strained relationship between a weary pastor and a complicated church, Paul introduces himself as an apostle “by the will of God” and dares to call the Corinthians “the church of God” and “saints.” From there we discover a surprising truth: before God gives explanations or verdicts, he speaks grace and peace over failed leaders and sinful saints.
