Episode 012 — 35 Brix, Uniontown, Ohio
The best discoveries on this quest have come from accidents. A Google Maps search from a moving car. A beach access path. A wrong turn on the way to get ice. This one came from a hair salon.
35 Brix in Uniontown sits right next door to where the better half gets her hair done, which means it was hiding in plain sight the whole time. Walked in expecting a quick drink. Walked out with a new entry on the list.
The surprise here was twofold. First, that a boutique-style bar in a strip of shops in Uniontown would have wings on the menu at all. Second, that those wings would be double fried Nashville hot. That's not an accident of a menu item — someone back there made a decision, and it was the right one. The heat builds the way it should, the double fry gives you the crunch that holds up through the sauce, and the rest of the menu and the bar program are good enough to make you stay longer than planned.
Boutique bar, serious wings. Sometimes they come in the same package.
If you're in the Uniontown area, 35 Brix is worth finding on purpose.
