Description

If sailors are bound by their service, shouldn't the presidents who send them be bound too? In this fictional drama, Daniel dismisses his younger brother's decision to join the Navy, then begins to reconsider after hearing their great-grandfather's memories of World War II. A conversation about service becomes an argument about the Twenty-Second Amendment and presidential term limits.

A policy-minded friend asks why the living should accept limits imposed by earlier generations. An older bartender answers that America does not do kings. Published in January 2026, TWENTY-TWO puts those two American principles beside the personal cost of military service. Daniel's brother cannot choose when his obligation ends. What, then, should the nation require of the people entrusted with his life?
