What is the purpose of the church? Why should we be part of the church? Is the church still important and relevant today? Why should we even care about the church? These are important questions. As a church we gather at least once per week. We ask people to give their time, their abilities, and even their resources to help support the church. But to what end? What is the point? This sermon is called "Cross Shaped Church" and looks at the purpose of the church which is to proclaim and demonstrate the truth of the cross of Jesus Christ through which we are saved. Being a cross shaped church means that the gospel is the foundation, the motivation, the purpose, and the means through which we do everything we do as the church.
