Father Abraham...had many sons...many sons had Father Abraham... Come on, you know the song! Sing along! It's a very catchy children's song about the way in which God worked out his plan through Abraham. Have you ever really stopped to think about what it meant for Abraham to go from being childless to being the father of many nations and used by God to carry out God's eternal plan? He had to leave everything that gave him security and comfort and trust in God's promise. He went through danger, turmoil, and faced a heart-wrenching decision of whether or not to trust his own way or to trust God. I wonder how many times along the way Abraham wondered if God's plan was really going to work out. In a sermon called "God is Able to Carry Out His Plan", we look at what we learn about God through the life, choices, steps, and missteps of Abraham.
