This Sunday was a historic day for Orchard Community Church. At the annual meeting after the second worship service we voted to approve our first group of men to be elders. Every sermon this month was planned to help prepare the congregation to be able to make this choice prayerfully and according to scripture. This sermon, preached on the day of the vote, looks at the biblical qualifications for elders. One of the important aspects of elders is that they are not some sort of superheroes that are better than everyone else. Instead, they are models of maturity worth following. The traits that are important for elders are traits we should seek to develop in our own relationship with Christ.
