We often feel a sense of connection to those whose life experiences or personality characteristics are similar to ours. The greater the overlap, the greater the sense of connection. Ephesians 1:1-10 presents us with a list of blessings we have through Jesus Christ. These blessings shape a new identity that is defined by the past, present, and future work of Christ in our lives and the world around us. This gives us a new (or renewed) connection with God, our creator, and with others who are saved by Christ. The more we understand the depth of our new identity in Christ the more we will understand the profound truth that we belong to God and that we have a new belonging to each other in Christ.
