Description

We are happy to have a missionary family visiting us at OCC.  Mark B. shares  with us a message about true contentment.

The Mathematician Blaise Pascal said, “There once was in man, a true happiness of which now remain to him only the mark and empty trace, which he in vain tries to fill from all his surroundings, seeking from things absent, the help he does not obtain, in things present. But these are all inadequate, because the infinite abyss can only be filled by an infinite and immutable object, that is to say, only by God Himself.”

We often apply this quote to unbelievers, but how about us as believers? Are our lives characterized by a genuine peace, joy and hope that is distinct from those around us that do not know Christ? Or is contentment still eluding us and we find ourselves looking for it in the same places that the world is looking?  As we look at Psalms 42-43, we see four remedies that take the Psalmist from the depths of despair and a discontent heart in his present circumstances, to hoping in God and finding the source of exceeding joy.

Listening to sermons online can be a great way to keep up with a sermon series if you are unable to attend church but should never be a substitute for regular attendance of a gospel-centered and bible teaching church.
