Do you ever get tired of the same old thing? The same dishes to wash. The same laundry to fold. The same problems with the same people. Sometimes the thing that is the same is us. The same bad habits. The same bad attitude. The same repeated mistakes. Have you ever wondered if God feels this way about us? He is faithful time and time again, yet we sin and rebel repeatedly. The Old Testament is filled with times God's people turned away from him. It is also filled with the record of his mercy. In a sermon called "The Same Old Story: God’s Mercy and Our Sin" we look at Nehemiah 9:1-37. In this passage we see the Israelites repent of their repeated sins throughout their long relationship with God. They confess that God has been merciful to them over and over again. This is the old story of Scripture: we are sinful, God is merciful, and it happens again and again. It is an old story, but it is a story of God's love toward us and the hope we have in his great mercy.
