Description

Maybe you're like me and you still believe God.

This week’s episode was unplanned. I had planned to release an episode on something totally different. I actually really want to get off of this topic of the virus and the quarantine, and all of the other concerns going on in the world right now because we’re overloaded with coverage and think pieces, new stories and memes, and our own reality, thoughts and experiences as we live through it. But as I was reading the Word this morning I was led to Romans 12, and I was reminded in verse 8 that because I have been given the gift of encouragement I should encourage. It was clear to me that I was being led today to share some encouragement for people like me, so that’s what I did.

If you need a little encouragement today this episode is for you. I believe God is still doing miracles. Our faith is a platform for him to perform them. It’s in times like this that we need to question if we believe in God or if we believe God because those are two different points of view. You can believe God exists and continue on living as if that doesn’t matter. But if you believe God, if you believe He is who He says He is, that He can do what He says he can do, if you believe what he thinks and says about you then that will drive your actions, your thoughts, will and emotions. This is the time to lean into your faith stores, be confident in the words you’ve read in the Bible, to revisit those sermons you heard, to recite those lyrics to yourself. It’s a time to be confident in your faith, not letting it be defined by the punched-in picture. Pull back, look at the big picture and see the glory of God. Let your faith lead, not fear. Pray through your fear and anxiety. Love through the uncertainty.

You know who this reminded me of?
Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6 starting at verse 8. This is the basis for this episode and I recommend going to read it in context because it's a really amazing story.

On a related note:
I talked about the concept of "pullbacks" in photography. This article provides a perfect visual illustration of that concept.

We might be more alike than you think...
