Over the past three weeks, we’ve journeyed through the Parable of the Sower. During that time, Jesus gave us three distinct spiritual warnings, within metaphor related to seed and soil.
He warned those who had hardened hearts, like the soil along the path. That the enemy will snatch the Gospel seed as soon as it hits their heart. He warned those who had no depth of heart, like the soil with rocky ground. Tribulation and persecution will prevent the Gospel seed from taking root. He warned those who had wandering hearts, like the soil near thorns. The Gospel seed is choked out by the cares, riches and pleasures of the world.
After three weeks of warnings, we will listen to Jesus transition to a blessing; an incredible promise to close this parable. His final teaching will show us that a soft heart is like good soil; it receives the seed and endures the struggle. A soft heart is like good soil; it receives and endures.
