This week, the scope of the book of Obadiah changes drastically. We've seen the results of the folly of the Edomites, but now Obadiah's prophecy includes all of humanity, bearing a dire warning.
The statement "For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations," is placed directly after the dark tale of Edom's destruction. The passage we are studying this week forces us to ask the question "What does Edom's fate mean for the rest of humanity?"
