Description

I want to introduce you to two disciples, Simon the Zealot and Thaddeus (the Child). As a Zealot in the First Century, Simon would have engaged in political agendas and anarchy, attempting to overthrow the Roman government. When he joined Jesus, he remained zealous, although his allegiance shifted to Christ.

Thaddeus went by a few names; Jude or Judas as official names, and Lebbaeus or Thaddeus as defining names. I chose "the Child" because Thaddeus roughly translates “breast child” ("mama's boy" in our culture). Lebbaeus is the Hebrew descriptor for someone who is tender-hearted, gentle, or sweet-spirited.

These two men couldn't have been more different, yet they both embraced the call to follow Jesus. After Jesus' ascension, they both became spiritually mature disciples, embracing the Gospel message and mission, sharing it wherever they travelled to whoever would listen.
