You don’t have to be someone else, or try to recreate things that everyone else is doing.
Do what you want to do – your pace, your creations and asking for help on things is actually free.
What you bring to Cosplay that no one else can is You – what you want to build, learn, create, share, and be a part of – that’s all you. No one else can duplicate that – and trying to duplicate what someone else is doing can lead to a lot of struggles, conflicts, and other not-so-great outcomes.
Imitation is a form of flattery, but there’s the 'You-factor' of all of Cosplay.
That is part of finding your tribe in Cosplay and finding those fandoms that work the best for you.
It is (kind of) all about You and what you’re doing. What does this cost – probably nothing, but what are you investing in yourself?
Time, energy, resources – what helps you and gets you closer to something you want (it’s ok to get closer to something you want).
Fitness can be an investment.
Education of all types can be an investment.
Mindset can be an investment.
So can taking a break – transitioning to other things or focusing on the other important parts of your life.
