An important topic, I feel, for sure is bringing up the overtones of how lopsided Comic Books are in terms of male and female characters - those that we portray and have fandom for in the world of Cosplay.
One thing I do not mention, because there's a lot going on here, is any genderbend in the interpretation of a character. Possibly we'll talk about this in a later episode.
It's also important to note that Cosplay is for everyone! New, Vintage, Small, Large, Green, Blue, or Borrowed.
For the show, I get into some high level statistics and the whole origin of comics playing into the lack of changes to the industry for many years. Recently, we've sensed changes and the shows and movies are trying to incorporate a better balance to the interaction between men and women in the area of fandom, but the debate goes on - this industry gravitates towards a male demographic, not in creation of, but in participation in the overall convention.
As always - I'm happy to share this with you, especially in a week where I will be attending a Convention myself - I'll be in attendance of Holmat down in Orlando. I can't wait, and I hope I have an opportunity to talk to many of you on all of the subjects surrounding Cosplay!
