Is it important that Cosplay is a hustle that I receive things to do?
Yes, it’s expensive and often people in this space will say that contributing to them keeps things going
But it’s not your audience’s responsibility to pay for your hobbies and interests nor in gaining attention should you become the interest that they subscribe to – a fan club (buy things and obsess over me)
You’re not a celebrity – most of you are not anyway – I don’t know many celebrities that cosplay. There are well-known names in the community, but the guests at a con come in 2 distinct categories
So, the short answer is NO, you don’t have to sell as a cosplayer.
And what do we have to talk about after that? What’s the point of sharing if you’re not selling? Gaining attention? Isn’t that still selling?
