3D printers, Sewing machines, any number of workshop items (most of which I am not familiar with, nor could I fit them in my apartment), and anything you can plug in that gets you a step closer to finishing your costume – the other things
My tip here is not to let it stop you – you don’t have a printer, it doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to make the piece you need. Getting a piece of equipment can be a huge investment – so be sure that there are savings involved over time or that it saves you a bunch of time or you really like whatever it is that you’re doing – printing, sewing, molding, shaping,
And please – clean out your paint guns.
Cost here varies wildly – try not to buy these things at conventions, there are usually large markups (do the research) though Cons are good places to learn more about creating, but you can end up paying a premium.
You may also have things that you use for other projects – some can be repurposed – you may do a lot of woodworking, or have a basement full of power tools already.
Remember, you do not need all the things to get started. You can find what’s in your closet and spend $15 dollars on a glue gun which will give you a lot of options.
