Why is painting hard? It’s not art – it’s more like paint by number because you already have the piece – you just need to make sure that it works and looks ok and is consistent and the colors are right.
Once you paint something, it’s kind of hard to go back and do it. You can’t really un-paint it. You can paint over it, but if it’s foam, this may not work well – you create layers and it can get too thick…there’s a lot of room for error in painting
Again – be prepared to mess up – if you’re painting anything, have several of the same thing to paint so you can practice – or just practice painting foam. It’s all about figuring out what works and what does not.
There are any number of spaces that will tell you how to prime foam or other materials, what kinds of paint to use, and methods for weathering
What they won’t tell you is how – how exactly to you find a brush and paint something – how much paint to use on the surface – how to mix paint so that it doesn’t get uneven or if you mix it – that you have enough and can consistently re-create the color.
Let's get into all the basics and where I am with painting my Cosplays, because I know I have a long way to to go, but it's fun learning and moving through all the beginner pieces of creating cosplays.
