Description

This week, we're talking with one of the founding members of the New York Avengers, Jake_Cosplays. Several important subjects come up including keeping yourself safe at Cons and how to maintain a professional attitude towards your hobby.

There are mixed feelings when it comes to the 'code of conduct' in Cosplay, especially now that it is more mainstream than it ever has been. How you present yourself in and out of the Con is becoming more and more apparent.  Conventions have grown so large in some cases, it's more of a 3-day long party for many con-goers and less of a learning and sharing experience.  It's still a family event to share appreciation and be a fan.  You're still having fun, but we're reminded throughout the conversation that it's not just having fun, but connecting and respecting the kids and adults, families and friends that attend and interact with you through the events, community, and online.

Jake has tremendous insight, and he's an all-around great cosplayer, spending his effort, time, and energy on the details of his creations and characterizations while keeping his focus on doing the right thing for others and being mindful and respectful of the space that he's in - whether it's at the Con or After Con.
