THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST The resurrection of Christ is so important for several reasons. First it attests to the unequaled power of God Himself. To believe in the resurrection is to believe in God. If God created the world out of nothing and He is in control of the entire universe, He must have power over death also. If death will bring an end to His creation then He is not worthy of our worship and trust.Second reason of Jesus’ resurrection is a testimony to the resurrection of human beings which is a basic tenet of the Christian faith. Christianity alone possesses a founder who transcends death and who promises His followers of life after death. As Christians, we believe in a Saviour who became man, died for our sins and was raised to life the third day. The grave could not hold its maker. He is the one who lived, died and lives forever having killed death by His resurrection.The Bible guarantees the believer’s resurrection at the coming of Jesus Christ. Such hope and assurance brings about the song of victory in I Corinthians 15:55, “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”The resurrection is the triumphant and glorious victory for every believer; this Jesus won for us by His resurrection. When He comes again, the dead in Christ will be raised up, and those who remain and are alive at His coming will be changed and receive new, glorious bodies (I Thess. 4:13-18).Christ’s resurrection testifies to the fact that God the Father accepted Jesus’ sacrifice on our behalf for our salvation. It proves that God has the power to raise us from the dead. It guarantees eternal life for those who believe in Christ. Without the resurrection the believers in Christ would have been like every other religion worshipping Christ in vain.Hallelujah! Christ arose.
