Never heard of Shamgar? That’s okay. Almost nobody has. 😂 The Bible gives him one verse, one farming tool, 600 defeated Philistines, and then moves on.
But maybe that is exactly why his story matters.
Most of us will never have our names known by thousands of people. We may spend our lives working ordinary jobs, raising families, serving quietly, loving people, and following Jesus without anyone noticing most of it. Sometimes that can leave us wondering: Does what I’m doing actually matter?
In this sermon from Judges 3:31, Pastor Jason Barnett explores the story of Shamgar, one of the Bible’s most overlooked judges, and what his one-verse story teaches us about faithfulness, purpose, Christian living, and leaving a godly legacy.
Your audience was never meant to be an arena full of people. Your audience is One.
God can use ordinary people, ordinary lives, and whatever He has placed in our hands to make an impact far beyond what we will ever see. You may never know how far the ripples of your faithfulness travel.
Shamgar only got one verse. But in that one verse, God used him to deliver Israel.
Your story doesn't have to be famous to matter. Be faithful with the part God has given you.
