Training to either become or sustain status as a CrossFit Games athlete is a full-time job, at least if you want to have any success. To have success as a professional athlete, you have to be willing to live an unbalanced, selfish lifestyle that centers around your training. For the other 99% of us mortals, training is a choice we make for one reason or another and serves many purposes within our lives. The question for many who get so heavily invested in getting better at CrossFit is: what are you training for? If you're part of that 99% and are someone whose demeanor and identity changes with your workout performance, you might need to take a hard look at why you're doing what you're doing.
