From our Advent series. In the second week of Advent, we consider the true nature of peace, of the “shalom” God promises to His people. In Luke 2:1-20, we see that those people to whom God offered peace, who were the first to hear the Good News that Jesus had come, were shepherds who had no imagination for what peace could actually mean. In other words, Jesus came to broaden for them, and for all of us, the horizon of the possible, and bring us into a new reality defined by His shalom.
