“To hold fast” means to “To stay fully committed to” “Our confession or profession.”
According to Strong's concordance the Greek word for "confession" is “homologia” which comes from the two root words “Homo” meaning “same” and “logia” meaning “words spoken”.
So, to profess means to “speak the same words” or “say the same thing as God, speaking the words of God. Therefore the expression “let us hold fast our profession or confession” literally means “let us stay fully committed to saying the same thing as God.
We are to stay fully committed to saying the things God says About conversion and sanctification, about faith and love, about sin and righteousness, about provision, protection and health, and about heaven and hell.
