John’s Christmas story is very different than that of Matthew and Luke: no shepherds, angels, Magi, inn keeper, not even a baby! And no Old Testament characters to foreshadow Jesus’ coming. John gives us new parable-types, a concept and a building, presenting Jesus as the “Word made flesh.”
