Description

What’s in a name? Chosen by our parents, a name becomes our character, our identity. It is important, so that we take offense if it is forgotten, misused, abused. Biblical names also tell us about the role of a person. By revealing his identity, God exposes himself to us, his holiness, his dignity. So we can call on him, worship him, confess his name, glorify his name. But we can also misuse and abuse his name. Being given the name of God gives us tremendous responsibility and privilege. This command is all about the treatment of God’s holy name.
Scripture: Exodus 20:7; Acts 4:1-22
