Paul was dealing with a group of false teachers in Colosse saying Christ wasn’t enough for salvation. Gentiles coming into the church had to first become Jewish! Paul is concerned about this young church and has already encouraged them. Now he gets to the heart of the matter: Christ is absolutely sufficient for our salvation. He encourages them to live in Christ rather than play with shadows.
