Imagine with me for a moment: The President stares out in disbelief. After ceremoniously sweeping down the stairs of Air Force One, he realizes that there is no one there to greet him. No dignitaries, no bands, no limo, not even a cab driver to pick him up! After his aides check all the arrangements, they find that there has been no mistake; no one bothered to show up! Will Jesus find himself in the same predicament when he returns? In Luke 18:8, he asks: “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” In a sense, that’s the question this parable asks: will we be prepared for his coming?
