Description

In this episode, Michael and I discussed his perspective on data science along with what is the role of a data scientist and how has it evolved with the explosion of no-code tools that has democratised access to the technology.

Having spent the last 5 years building solutions in the payments, fin-tech and consumer retail space, Michael is a data scientist and entrepreneur whose favourite component of data science is predictive modelling and story-telling.

Here’s a very insightful quote from Micheal:

“That the most powerful thing that any business can do today is to start storing data effectively, capturing data comprehensively and sharing it collectively across the business.”

We covered a lot of ground in this discussion, so I encourage you to have a listen for yourself. Here are some key points in this podcast episode:

➡️ The in-depth definition of data science from a data scientist. What does a data scientist do?

➡️ Decision science versus data

➡️ The application of data science in a more scientific approach that influences the decision making of a company.

➡️ Is decision science and data science into the day to day operation of the business still lacking in a lot of organisations?

...and more!

He founded BalloonBox Technology Inc. shortly after moving from Cape Town to Vancouver in February 2019 with the goal to improve decision making logic for business by harnessing data to adopt a fact-based approach. When not solving problems, Mike spends his time in BC' mountains hiking, riding or running and would love to explore bio-mimicry applications in his spare time.
