In the 1980’s, Dorothea Helen Puente ran a boarding house in Sacramento California for the elderly, drug addicted and mentally disabled. As part of their agreement in renting a room in Dorothea's house, she would retrieve her tenants' daily mail, cash their social security checks and give them only a portion of the money...and if they refused or gave her problems about it, they would mysteriously disappear.
