God always had a plan for the salvation of the world, even before there was sin in the world. And knowing that Jesus would be the means of salvation, He sent angels to minister to Him. They were there for Him before He was born,. after He was born, during His life, before He died and after He rose from the dead. The angels were always there for Him in His greatest need.
