Zealous & Doubting. Thomas needed Scientific analytic observation. Simon (the zealot) was looking for political upheaval, social reform, systemic change. Both were hard core liberals. Both hit disappointment and disillusionment in Jesus. Eagerness withered on one hot day. Doubt seeded and grew like like weeds. (very safe to assume this for Simon’s background even though not told as such)
