No one likes to be caught believing too much, and found to be wrong in the end? That's usually how we define the word "gullible."
But are you okay with the possibility of believing too little?
Maybe, that love was there. That reconciliation could have happened. That purpose for being alive was real. That you could have had more peace than anxiety. So much contentment in the seasons you had so little.
In the story of the resurrection, it was the believers who didn't believe. It was the faithful who lacked faith. The foundation of the Christian faith would be built by 11 guys who just couldn't take a chance to believe (at first).
This easter, the resurrection story begs the question,
"Will you make a choice to take a chance?"
