How did Jesus deal with overload?
Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, John 11:5-6
On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. Now Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem, John 11:17-18
Jesus had the most important assignment on the planet, and yet he was never in a hurry.
Hurry sickness: A behavior pattern characterized by continual rushing and anxiousness.
If we follow an unrushed Jesus,
we should be living an unrushed life.
You Cannot love well and be in a hurry.
Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
How do I stop the hurry? Create Margins
Margin is the space between my load and my limits
“In this world you will have trouble!” John 16:33
Sensible people will see trouble coming and avoid it, but an unthinking person will walk right into it and regret it later. Proverbs 22:3
Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. Mark 5:25
Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment. Matthew 9:22
Is you focus on the things you need to do,
or the people you need to pour into?
You must slow down in order to see.
And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. Matthew 9:10. ESV
When you rush toward what is next,
you miss what is now.
