The Spirit Matters
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12
When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there. For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft,or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. Deuteronomy 18:9-12
How can we resist temptation?
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. Gal 5:16-17
One of the best ways to resist temptation is to
eliminate it.
WHAT YOU feed GROWS.
WHAT YOU starve DIES.
OVERCOMING THE WRONG APPETITES
Surrender to God! Resist the devil, and he will run from you. James 4:7 CEV
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matt 26:41
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:9-11
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning… 1 Cor 15:33-34
Being with the wrong people never helps you do the right thing.
