In this episode we discuss emotional competence.  EQ is important.  Emotionally competent people thrive in life.  We drill down and discuss empathy and how we engage with others and how valuable it is to understanding the intensity of others' feelings.  

Why is empathy relevant to you:

  1. We need to be an empathetic society.
  2. We want adults and youth to be empathetic.
  3. Research says from 1979-2009 empathy showed a 48% decline in the United States.
  4. 92% of CEOs think they are empathetic but employees don't agree.
  5. 90% of employees believe empathy is a value they want in a company. 
  6. Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Millennial are willing to leave a company that is not empathetic.
