Our walk through the Gospel of John takes us to Chapter 10 today, where Jesus identifies Himself as The Good Shepherd. In doing so, He identifies us as His sheep, triggering all the beauty and power of centuries of psalm and prophecy regarding God shepherding His people (particularly Ezekiel 34 and Psalm 23, but also several others).
As we listen to Jesus' voice, He shows the way forward and protects us from the thieves, bandits, and wolves that would seek to do us harm. He leads us into an abundant life measured not by mammon, but by the richness of life in His presence, now and forever.
