Proverbs 25:28 - Self Control
A person without self control is like a house with all its doors & windows knocked out.
What is a house with all it’s windows & doors knocked out like?
vulnerable (with no protection from the outside dangers and elements)
unsafe/dangerous (broken glass)
danger enters easily - quick to anger, fall to temptation
elements can destroy the inside of the home faster (the heart)
Hard to look at and no one wants to be around it (no curb appeal)
need repair (change from within)
Why do we need self control?
EVERYTHING in life - spending/saving, eating habits, our words, actions/sins, addictions, disciplines (bible study, exercise)
What does it offer us?
Protection
courage
strength
a secure heart
light instead of darkness
the ability to shine that light out to others & welcome them in to a safe place
a steady, confident, spirit-firm heart
