How do I know if I’m experiencing burn out and what’s the antidote?

  1. You feel overwhelmed b/c it seems like your “to-do” list or work will never be done (in life or at physical work)
  2. You feel like you are in a rut/pit and can’t seem to climb out.
  3. You feel a little bitter towards God or those closest to you.
  4. Everyday tasks completely overwhelm you and seem impossible to complete.

The floodwaters are up to my neck. Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can’t find a foothold. Psalm 69:1-2

Burnout comes when we lose our connection to the Lord.

The Antidote-

  1. Sit down and evaluate - Am I trying to do this all on my own or with God?
  2. Burnout often comes when we take too much responsibility on by ourselves. Recognize your limits, delegate, ask for help, say no - and give others the opportunity to step up.
  3. REST - TRULY REST - when we are taking time to truly rest and recharge with and through God we avoid burnout.

The LORD . . . never grows weak or weary. . . . He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. . . . Those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31

“Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
