The problem of our human nature is that we want:
The credibility without the consistency;
The harvest season without the planting season;
The increase without the investment;
The success without the obedience;
The rewards without the sacrifice;
The fruitful without the faithful.
Almost 40 years ago, Eugene Peterson wrote: Long Obedience in the Same Direction. That title is the perfect definition of what it means to be faithful to God; long obedience in the same direction.
That journey starts with one prayer... a prayer of surrender.
