“Glad tidings of great joy!”
This week we discuss Samuel the Lamanite prophesying to the Nephites!!! We learn how the Lord’s servants speak and act according to His direction. Samuel proves himself to be a true prophet of God through his faith, his obedience, and his trust in the Lord. His prophesies differ from those of many other prophets in their specificity and the short time frames for their fulfillment! “Specific Sam” prophesies about the coming of The Savior of the world with precise detail, down to the signs that will herald His birth and when the signs will come! Even though he is repeatedly rejected many believe and are baptized.
Samuel is cast out by the people of Nephi, but commanded by the Lord to return. He “casts himself up” onto a wall and preaches to the wicked Nephites with great courage, even as they cast stones at him and even fire arrows at him! He is unharmed through all of this though, as the Lord is with him. He demonstrates unwavering trust in God and faith that the message he has to deliver is from the Lord.
