Join us as Saints In The South discuss what it means to be a Mormon, a Christian, and a Saint all at the same time. Sometimes Mormons are mistakenly thought not to be Christians when in fact they are. God's people and followers have often been referred to as Saints in the Old Testament and New Testament? That slowly changed during New Testament times when people needed a way to differentiate those who followed Christ from those who continued to follow the Law of Moses. The word Christian became the mainstream term as a way to label a follower of Christ and the word Saint took on an elevated meaning as man's definition changed over the years as to what it means to be a Saint. We compare that to how early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints were called Mormons. For a good period of time, the church embraced the term. However, under the direction of President Russell M. Nelson, Saints are highly encouraged to refer to the church as The Lord instructed, using it's full name when possible and only slightly adjusted names at other times. President Nelson has guided The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on a huge undertaking to alter the names of church affiliated organizations and websites to help adjust the incorrect name references of the church all over the world.
