Description

Daniel Wu is a groundbreaker, much like his idol Bruce Lee. As an Asian American man, Daniel broke down racial barriers in Hollywood by becoming one of the first Asian leading men in a television series. For three seasons, Daniel was executive producer and star of “Into the Badlands”, a post-apocalyptic martial arts drama. Although Daniel was born and raised in America, it was Hong Kong that helped shape his acting career and to become a bonafide movie star. But Hong Kong gave Daniel something else, a sense of belonging as an Asian. He never felt like “the other” or an “outsider”. It was only when he came back to the U.S. when he felt his minority status again and the recent COVID-19 related racism and the killing of George Floyd has inspired Daniel to speak up about inequality and the need for justice. In this episode, May finds out more about Daniel's journey as a badass leading man, his love of Bruce Lee and how he's teaching his young daughter about race and identity.
