In this episode, Rich has a conversation with the people of the Harford County Health Department and Corrie Reed of the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health.
In the United States, breast cancer is the biggest cancer killer of women, second only to lung cancer in terms of overall mortality. Screening for breast cancer is crucial since most women have no symptoms in the early stages, when the tumor is tiny and treatment is most effective. A painless lump is the most typical physical symptom. Breast cancer that has progressed to the lymph nodes under the arm may create a lump or swelling there before the primary tumor in the breast is big enough to be felt. Infrequent symptoms include nipple alterations including spontaneous discharge (particularly if bloody), scaliness, or retraction, as well as breast soreness or heaviness, dimpling, swelling, thickness, or redness of the breast skin, and so on. A doctor should be consulted about any breast changes that persist over time.
