As we begin the new year, we get excited at the chance to begin a new and start what we might've failed to do in the last year. As Jesus exemplified when he got baptized and received His Father's blessing, we must know who we are before stepping into our call. When we don't know who God is and who we are to Him, it is easy to compromise the perfect promises He has for us. When we doubt God and move forward anyway, when we take His gifts prematurely, when we reduce His standards, and when we downgrade who we are, we miss out on His good and perfect gifts.
